River’s Edge is book three of the four book Cape Refuge Series.  From the very first page, author Terri Blackstock weaves a mystery that kept me on the edge of my seat until the very last chapter.  Set on the fictitious island of “Cape Refuge,” Blackstock’s vivid characters spring to life and the protagonists feel like friends.

In this book, Small town Police Chief Matt Cade investigates a mysterious disappearance, murder, blackmail, and fraud.  A mystery, coupled with a bit of romance and the very personal issue of infertility, it’s easy to find ways to relate with the story’s main characters.  When forced to set the book aside, I found myself wondering how the story would end.  With several twists and turns, the story ends in a surprising manner.

It’s refreshing to read a quality book, written without gratuitous sex, profanity and violence. Granted, murders take place on the island, but the author finds it unnecessary to describe the scenes with an abundance of blood and gore.

Intertwining intrigue with Christian values makes for a wonderful combination.  I look forward to reading more from this accomplished writer.
