Do You Really Care About Our Kids?

God has blessed my family with six children, three boys…three girls….a modern day Brady Boggs8Bunch of sorts.  When our family piles out of the Suburban or walks into the grocery store, our presence raises eyebrows.  I wish I had a nickel for every time a person asks, “You know how that happens, right?” My favorite response is, “My wife knows, but she won’t tell me.”  Truth be told, we love kids.  It’s that plain and simple.

We (our family) associate or tend to support a political Party that champions children, starting at conception.  We proudly claim to be the Party of Life.  And that’s the case for the GOP unless the preferred Candidate fails to receive the Party’s nod for nominee and then some moan and groan, threatening to support a third Party candidate or refusing to vote in November.  But my third Party candidate is pro-life, you say.  That’s great, but in our overwhelmingly entrenched two-party system, a third party candidate only serves to steal votes away from either the Democrat or Republican nominee.  In this case, Donald Trump stands to lose the most from individuals dead set against the GOP nominee.

Am I one hundred percent convinced Trump’s a true Conservative?  Absolutely not!  He concerns me…a great deal.  However, am I convinced Hillary Clinton plans to perpetuate Obama’s legacy by sticking America with a third term of Obama’s ideologies?  Absolutely!  She’s promised as much.  And this is one of the only things she’s said that can be trusted.

Time and time again I converse with Conservatives who won’t vote for Trump because their conscience won’t allow it.  Well, if that’s you, I pose the following questions:

Will your conscience allow Hillary Clinton to nominate four or more Supreme Court Justices?

Will your conscience vote for Hillary, a woman worshiped by the nation’s largest abortion provider?

Will your conscience vote for Hillary even after she claimed Margaret Sanger as a hero?

Will your conscience vote for a woman who lied about Benghazi, blaming the attack on a YouTube video?

Will your conscience vote for a woman who compromised national security by unilaterally deciding to utilize her own private server and email?

Will your conscience vote for a woman whose husband sexually harassed and assaulted scores of women?  (Hillary called the women’s charges, “Bimbo eruptions.)

Will your conscience vote for a woman who’s been called “extremely careless” by the FBI?

And let me ask again, will your conscience permit you to allow Hillary Clinton to nominate four or more Supreme Court Justices, who enjoy lifetime appointments?

A vote for a Third Party candidate or boycotting the ballot box in November is a vote for Hillary…a violation of the conscience many claim the desire to protect.

Trump’s not perfect…not even close.  And we really don’t know how America will fare under a Trump/Pence Administration.  Clinton’s track record speaks for itself; Hillary’s term in office might be America’s death knell.

So I ask, do you really care about our kids?

God’s Not In Panic Mode

In John 6, we find one account of the feeding of the five thousand. The people flocked to Jesus for various reasons, His teaching, preaching, and healing amassed multitudes wherever His Father led. On this occasion, the day grew long, and the remote location offered no resources to feed the hungry people before sending them home. John 6: 5 and following shares:

Then Jesus lifted up His eyes, and seeing a great multitude coming toward Him, He said to Philip, “Where shall we buy bread, that these may eat?” But this He said to test him, for He Himself knew what He would do.

The key insight to hone in on is that Jesus had already formulated a plan to meet the needs of the people.

As we race toward the Convention and the Presidential election in November, it appears panic has settled over true Conservatives in the Republican Party. Every day Never Trumps and Trump supporters fire salvos at each other, neither budging or giving ground. I’ll admit a wave of panic washed over me when Cruz suspended his campaign. With concern for the future of Conservatism, I noted Low Information Voters existed in BOTH parties. And yes, that aggravates me. And I’m especially disappointed in Evangelicals who chose to support Trump over a true Conservative like Ted Cruz. That being said, I won’t spend the next few months, worrying about a Clinton or Trump Administration. Fretting and hand wringing won’t change the course of Providence…note the capital “P.”

It is God who sets up kings and deposes them. Daniel 2:21 shares:

“He changes times and seasons; He removes kings and sets up kings; He gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to those who have understanding.”

Daniel 4:17 reiterates the truth:

“The sentence is by the decree of the watchers, the decision by the word of the holy ones, to the end that the living may know that the Most High rules the kingdom of men and gives it to whom He will and sets over it the lowliest of men.”

A clear understanding of these truths show that politics is merely a method God uses to accomplish His will. Even though less than savory politicians abuse their political muscle, meaning it for evil, God uses it for good. Concerning our Country’s return to biblical principles, we mustn’t believe political entities are wielding the keys to Revival. If a spiritual awakening ignites in America, it will happen when the Church in lockstep marches into the world shining the Light of Christ.

Does this mean Christians should stay home on election day? Absolutely not! Where we have a voice and can elect our leaders, we should exercise that right by voting for those whose views most closely parallel our own.

Might we be disappointed in November’s outcome? Sure.  But it’s quite possible, even likely, that America’s suffered under the Obama Administration because our Country’s acting like a petulant child.  The Bible states,

“God disciplines those He loves.”

Raising strong-willed children often requires a lesson be taught multiple times.  Over the past few years, we’ve witnessed America rush to “hell in a handbasket.”  Should we really expect Him to give the Country a godly principled leader when we’ve thumbed our noses at Him?  II Peter 3:3 says,

“…scoffers will come in the last days with scoffing, following their own sinful desires.”

Isn’t that a perfect synopsis of the world today?

Maybe, just maybe, we’re seeing a rapid decline in morality because Gabriel’s holding the trumpet to his lips.  Maybe, just maybe, God’s about ready to send Jesus back for His Bride.  No matter the reason for our societal plunge into a cesspool, God’s not in panic mode and He has in mind what He’s going to do.

Unlike a politician’s pledge, we can take God’s promises to the bank.

Just Look Down…Addressing the Bathroom Debate

So God created humankind in His image, in the image of God He created them; male and female He created them. Genesis 1:27

As a young teenager, I remember accidentally walking into the wrong public bathroom.  Once inside, I noted something strangely missing from the walls…urinals.  Immediately, I realized the error of my boysgirlsways and rushed out, avoiding eye contact with anyone in the near vicinity.  I looked at the “male” and “female” bathroom signs. Yep, I certainly had chosen the wrong restroom.  It was a perfectly honest mistake, though.  At every other McDonald’s I’d visited, the male bathroom was situated on the right.  Without checking the signage, I chose the bathroom based upon its location in other franchises.  Thankfully, I wasn’t greeted by a woman inside.  I would’ve been mortified and possibly considered some type of pervert or peeping Tom.  Things have really changed since then.  Today, I could walk into any Target woman’s restroom, as a male, explaining I identify as a female.  No. Questions. Asked. And now it appears the Obama Administration is paving the way for males and females to share the same bathrooms and locker rooms in the Public School System.  You can read about that, here.

America’s definitely “tripping down the rabbit hole.”

What could possibly go wrong with boys gaining access to girl’s bathrooms?  Surely pedophiles and wildly hormonal young men won’t take advantage of this edict from the most Liberal Presidential Administration in the history of the United States.  Can you really imagine high school and fraternity boys temporarily identifying as females to ogle girls in the locker room showers?

I can.

Liberals have evolved from “It takes a village” to “It takes a village idiot,” and idiocy is the word that best describes this ideologically driven catastrophe emanating from the White House. Those pushing this garbage, do so from their ivory palaces, distancing themselves and their families from the detrimental outcomes.  For instance, President Obama’s daughters attend a pricey private institution of learning.  I imagine every time either of the First Daughters’ need to access the facilities, the Secret Service swoops in and clears the bathroom.  Whenever suggested policies like this are passed down from D.C., only the peasants pay the price, while the political elitists toast to tolerance and inclusion.

At some point America has to say enough is enough!

II Timothy 2:22 says, “Flee the evil desires of youth and pursue righteousness, faith, love and peace, along with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart.”

Instead of fleeing evil, our world chases after it like a moth to a flame.  Opening the door of our bathrooms and locker rooms to all genders or gender identities opens another Pandora’s Box in our already sin sick world.  Depending upon the leadership elected in November, it may take years to slam it shut.  Obviously the President timed this decree perfectly.  With few school days remaining, he’s counting on the typical short memory of Americans.  If you send your children to public schools, I encourage you to call your Superintendent’s office and demand the school district rebuff the wishes of the Obama Administration.

This morning my twelve year old weighed in on this topic.  He said,

“It’s not hard to tell girls from boys.  All they have to do is look down.”

Looking down might help, but first we need to look up.

Come quickly Lord Jesus.

Where’s the Beef?

One of my favorite commercials as a kid was “Where’s the Beef?”  For those of you who are in their 40’s or older, no explanation is needed.  But for the whippersnappers, here’s the gist. wheresthebeef Three older ladies walk into a fast food restaurant and order hamburgers.  When the ladies are served their food, they notice the bun swallowing the patty.  One lady with a distinctive and memorable voice keeps saying, “Where’s the beef?”  My family cracked up every time the commercial aired.  If you have never seen it, I found the classic Wendy’s ad on YouTube.  Here’s the link: Where’s the Beef?

So, my question for everyone is

“Where’s the Beef?”

The origin of this idiom is uncertain, but we know the phrase is used as means of complaining, grumbling, or protest.  It’s probably more often said as, “What’s your beef?”  But for the purpose of this entry, I’m asking,

“Where’s the Beef?”

Does anyone else find it disturbing that the front runner for the Democrat Party is under FBI investigation?  Does anyone really care Hillary Clinton compromised national security while serving as Secretary of State when she unilaterally decided to use her own “home brew server” and a personal email account to conduct government business because it was “more convenient?”  How many noted her story about dodging sniper fire after landing in Bosnia on a diplomatic trip as First Lady?  There was no sniper fire.  The only thing she’s dodged in recent memory is the truth.

Proverbs 12:22 shares:

‘The LORD detests lying lips, but he delights in people who are trustworthy.’

For whatever reason, our society no longer cares about the truth.  Remember the story, “The Boy Who Cried Wolf?”  In this classic tale from Aesop’s Fables, a young shepherd boy grew weary of watching his sheep, and in his boredom concocted an idea.  He decided to scream at the top of his lungs, “Wolf, wolf, the wolf is chasing the sheep!”

The villagers scrambled up the hill to fend off the wolf.  No wolf.  The shepherd boy found this amusing.  He screamed out “Wolf, Wolf” a second time.  Once again the villagers came to assist the shepherd boy.  Seeing no wolf, they left grumbling.  Then it happened.  A wolf attacked the flock, scattering them over the hillside.  This time when he cried out for help, no one came.  When the villagers noticed the shepherd boy was late returning home, they climbed the hill to check on him.  They found the boy weeping.  He wondered why no one came to help.  The very last line of the tale reveals the reason:

“Nobody believes a liar…even when he is telling the truth.”

But that’s not the case today.  Either Hillary’s staunchest supporters dismiss her perceived propensity to fabricate as being trumped up charges by her political foes, or don’t care as long as Mrs. Clinton won’t cut their government benefits and access to abortion on demand.  Abraham Lincoln said, ”

“No man has a good enough memory to be a successful liar”

Well, that’s usually the case, but the Clinton’s have proven otherwise.  But not because the Clinton’s have perfected the art of lying, but because a large percentage of the American people suffer from gullibility.  There’s no personal investigation.  No one wants to dig deep.  If the news anchor says it, then it must be true.

I remember a time when lying resulted in consequences.  (I can still taste that bar of soap.) Today, the only consequence is the burden of choosing the right drapes for the Oval Office.  So, I ask again,

“Where’s the Beef?”

I look forward to the day when Truth reigns supreme.

Come quickly, Lord Jesus.

Awake the Sleeping Giant

A few nights ago, Delaina and I suffered one of the scariest moments we’ve had in quite some time.  If you know us well, you know we’re not sleeping much these days.  Our three year old struggles with regular nightmares, and our 8 month old rarely falls asleep without being held.  When Delaina or I attempt to lay her down for the night, she often wakes and the process starts over again.  Needless to say it’s been months (maybe years) since we’ve slept through the night. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not complaining, I’m just setting the stage…

JuliannaCuterGrinOn Saturday night, Abby awoke whimpering, crying for Daddy.  About the same time, our baby startled awake, hungry.  I padded across the hall to snuggle with Abby for a bit, while Delaina picked up and cradled our youngest.  I dropped off to sleep next to our toddler, only waking when realizing her mattress and my back didn’t get along.  I crossed the hall again and climbed into bed.  Delaina jerked awake.  She had drifted off while nursing the baby.  (How she sleeps in the upright position, I’ll never know.)  Anyway, she asked if Abby was okay and then readied to put baby back in her bedside crib.

Suddenly, Delaina panicked.

“Is she breathing?  Is she breathing.”

Our baby lay completely limp in her arms.  What you must know is that our baby is a very, VERY light sleeper.  We had never seen her sleep so soundly.

“Is she okay?  Is she breathing?” she said again.

We didn’t shake the baby, because you never shake a baby.  Delaina tapped her arm, tickled her toes, and rubbed her leg.  We said her name.  Nothing.  No response.  We both stopped our frantic efforts to awaken her. Then, we heard it.

Breathing.

She was just THAT sound asleep.  For the first time in her 8 months, her daytime activities tuckered her out.  After Delaina, snuggled with baby for a few more seconds saying,

“I love you, I love you, thank you Jesus…”

she situated baby in her crib.  We both stared at the ceiling for a while, our hearts racing out of our chests.  An adrenaline release in the middle of the night isn’t conducive for restful sleep.

I imagine there are parents reading this that can relate.

In this event, I see a spiritual lesson.

I wonder how often God finds us in a deep spiritual stupor.  We call Him Father; we call Jesus our Lord and Savior, yet, when it comes right down to it, we spend more time ignoring His will than serving in His Kingdom.

Remember when Jesus prayed in the Garden of Gethsemane the night before His crucifixion?  He invited three disciples along.  The Bible says this in Luke 22:

When He arrived at the place, He (Jesus) said to them, “Pray that you may not enter into temptation.” And He withdrew from them about a stone’s throw, and He knelt down and began to pray.

Jesus prayed for a bit and then checked on His disciples. Each time He returned to His followers, Jesus had to wake them up.  He said to His disciples,

“Why are you sleeping? Get up and pray that you may not enter temptation.” (Luke 22:46)

And there’s the problem.  Many Christians today spend more time “sleeping” than serving in the Kingdom.  Maybe our greatest failure is lack of prayer.  Within the past 45 years we’ve seen our Country legalize abortion, strip public prayer from the public school system, legalize gay marriage and encourage men and women to choose the bathroom with which they identify.  Are we seeing a crumbling society because believers are napping instead of putting on the whole armor of God?  Methinks, yes.  Ronald Reagan once said,

“If we ever forget that we’re one nation under God, then we will be a nation gone under.”

In our efforts to kowtow to a politically correct society, we’ve neglected to victoriously raise the banner of truth.  Heck, we consider it bold to slap on a bumper sticker honoring Christ.  Statistics share Christianity is still by far the predominant religion in America, but if so, it’s the quietest majority in history.  Obviously our Country’s brimming with drowsy Christians.  Let’s not force God to shake us awake!

Church, are you breathing?  Are you breathing?

It’s time to wake the sleeping giant.

To My Fellow Cruz Supporters

To my fellow Cruz supporters:  Last night proved Low Information Voters exist in both Parties.   I was in a meeting when my wife texted, “Cruz is out.”  I felt sucker punched…physically ill…fighting mad, but too exhausted to throw a punch…so yes, I share your pain.  However, I refuse to write in a third party candidate that can’t possibly win; nor will I stay home and sulk on Election Day.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not jumping on the Trump Train with enthusiasm and chest bumps.  Any of the Republican potentials would’ve been better than Trump…well, except for Kasich.  So, with my nose held tightly between thumb and index finger, I will cast a vote for Donald Trump in November.  Am I happy about it? No!  Do I think he’s a true Conservative?  Absolutely not!  He’s a Rhino at best and at worst, a Democrat Light.  However, there might be a smidgen of integrity left in Trump, whereas Hillary Clinton has obviously made some type of nefarious deal with the devil, or she’s competing with Lucifer for the title of the universe’s biggest liar.

Why do I believe Trump MIGHT be a bit better than Hillary?  Four reasons.  First, she boasts proudly of her support for abortion at any stage in pregnancy.  Though Trump’s past suggests otherwise, he says he’s pro-life.  Second, Hillary pledges to carry on the legacy of Obama, administering a third Obama term.  Trump says Obama’s been a disaster.  Does Donald actually mean this?  I’m not sure.  But we know for certain the anti-American intent of Hillary Clinton. Third, Hillary pledges to enact stricter gun control laws.  Daughter Chelsea says Mama Clinton would like nothing more than to repeal the 2nd Amendment. Trump insists he’s a strong supporter of the 2nd Amendment and the NRA.  According to a Breitbart article from last year,

“GOP presidential hopeful Donald Trump is a lifetime member of the NRA and a concealed carry permit holder who believes the advantages an armed citizenry provides to America are so evident as to be beyond “debate.””

And lastly, there’s the issue of the Supreme Court.  In fact, that may now be the most pressing reason to vote for a “Republican.”  Whether or not Trump intends to nominate a Conservative in gavelthe vein of the late Justice Scalia is yet to be seen.  However, we know Hillary Clinton’s nominee/nominees will be Left of Elizabeth Warren.  If Conservatives lose the Supreme Court, America’s done…this isn’t hyperbole.  We’re finished.  To reverse course and restore American exceptionalism would take decades…if ever accomplished at all.  If we elect another candidate hell-bent on cramming socialism down America’s throat, we might as well rename ourselves Northern Venezuela.

Might Trump be a nightmare?  Absolutely!  But a nightmare greater than the Clinton’s occupying the White House?  Hardly.

Some will now attack me and claim I’ve never been a true Conservative.  That’s hogwash.  Some will say I’m abandoning my principles.  And once again, that’s not true.  Understand I’ve been blessed with a wife and six precious children.  I’m thinking about their long term future…futures impacted by lifetime appointments and judicial activism.  I’m not focusing on my present frustration with the current state of events.

Just sharing my heart.

The Battle for the Locker Room

There’s been a battle raging in Chicago, School District #211. This battle doesn’t involve guns and gang members.  This conflict doesn’t revolve around the spats between rival cliques of mean girls or even two young bucks sparring for the heart of the same doe.  No, this hostility rages over locker room privileges. A transgender student, born male, now transitioning into a female wants unfettered access to the girls’ locker room.  The main problem being, “Student A” hasn’t fully transitioned and is still an anatomical male.  I realize this may be considered intolerant, but allowing an anatomical male to dress in the same locker room as females is absolutely crazy.  I mean even the little boy in Kindergarten Cop properly identified the differences between males and females and knew which bathroom each was supposed to use…

Here’s my main concern, how many young men drooling to gain access to a girls’ locker room will fake gender fluidity. A person who is gender fluid may always feel like a mix of the two traditional genders, but may feel more like a boy some days, and more like a girl other days.   I envision teenage boys feeling more like girls on the nights the cheerleaders and dance squads are changing in the school locker rooms.  You know society is screwed up when it’s considered politically incorrect to deny anatomical boys access to public girls’ locker rooms and restrooms.  From my experience with the male gender, raging hormones and claimed gender fluidity should raise ample concerns.

Instead of rushing to label me as intolerant, imagine for a moment the following scenario. I’m a Dad, and I’ve taken my kids to buy groceries.  Naturally, two aisles from check out, my ten year old girl needs to go to the bathroom.  It’s serious.  She’s doing her potty walk.  Pushing a cart full of groceries and herding her other siblings, I escort my daughter to the restrooms.  Noting the posted signs and seeing no “Family Restrooms” option, she skips into the restroom designated for women.   As I bend over to drink from the fountain, my peripheral vision identifies a man, sporting a dress, walking into the women’s restroom.  As a father, do I ignore the fact an obvious male has now intruded upon the privacy of my little girl, or does my gender become fluid momentarily while I charge into the bathroom, preparing to defend my little girl’s innocence? After the confrontation’s over, should I just explain to management and to the local authorities I identified as a female while my daughter used the facilities or that I distrusted the man in the print dress and responded accordingly?  Sadly, to say the latter would be considered hate speech.

The girls in Chicago don’t hate “Student A,” but they cited two reasons for being uncomfortable with sharing a locker room with the gender confused individual. First, he’s anatomically a boy; Second, adolescent girls are already struggling with self-image issues.  Adding a “male” to the mix only exacerbates the problem.  Girls that don’t feel comfortable disrobing in front of other females now must do so with a male present?  Come on.

Until Jesus returns, the only resolution is too plumb in a third set of bathrooms for transgender people. Don’t give me the argument that this wrongly targets and draws attention to transgender individuals in the public square.  A few years ago, I hawked cell phones for an Alltel agent in a Wal-Mart a few miles away.  One day a man, sporting a sundress stopped to inquire about rates.  I could’ve overlooked the dress and pumps, but he hadn’t waxed any visible part of his body…including his chest and back.  No, walking into a transgender bathroom doesn’t draw undo attention…a man in a dress and heels does that already.

I’m not trying to minimize the struggle of gender identification. In fact, I see this as a spiritual issue.  Ever since the Garden of Eden, the Devil has planted doubt in the heart of mankind.  A question we all mull over from time to time is,

“Did God really say…?”

So, did God really say, “Let there be males and females?”  Absolutely.  If the father of lies can plant a seed of doubt about one’s gender, why wouldn’t he?  Humanity is the crowning glory of God’s Creation.  To question God’s intent on gender, characterizes the Creator as One capable of mistakes.  When in reality the mistake is allowing males and females to change in the same locker rooms.  If you question why, make it a family movie night and watch Kindergarten Cop.

The truth often comes out of the mouth of babes.

What Happened to the Black and White World?

At 12:30 pm, Monday through Friday, I carve out a thirty minute lunch break to eat a sandwich and watch one of the greatest shows of all time…Andy Griffith.  I don’t care for the newer, colorized shows featuring Warren instead of Barney.  No, I love watching the old black and white episodes and laughing at the antics of Andy and Barney.  I’ve introduced this classic television to my kids and they also enjoy it.  The Andy Griffith show tickles the funny bone and often weaves a valuable moral lesson amidst the laughs.  When the show’s on and my kids are watching, I can leave the room and not worry about my children’s eyes or ears being assaulted by raunchy images or vile language.  The episodes clearly point out the evils of lying and gossip and the importance of loyalty and obeying the “Golden Rule.”  Not only were the early shows filmed in black and white, but the morals were taught in definite shades of black and white…No gray areas to confuse the young and the young at heart.

We no longer live in a black and white world.

Our culture preaches a doctrine referred to as “moral relativism.”  In other words, what might not be right for you may be right for me…and vice versa.  Our society has shoved moral absolutes from the public sphere and replaced them with moral ambiguities.  Behaviors and lifestyles once deemed universally sinful are now championed in sitcoms like “Modern Family.”  Fifty years ago, Andy Griffith implied to a gathering of men that if there were no women around, man wouldn’t be able to enjoy a married life.  Today, that statement would be met with outrage and the perpetrator of the verbal insensitivity would be harassed until he apologized.  Somewhere between Myer’s Lake and 21st century America, we’ve lost our moral compass.

Maybe it started in the 1960’s during the reign of free love and hallucinogenic drugs.  Maybe it started when one woman’s hatred for God precipitated the eventual ousting of prayer from the public schools.  Maybe it started when the highest court in the land found a woman’s right to abortion to be scrawled in the Constitution of the United States.  Or maybe it started earlier, much earlier, when the Enemy promised godhood to humanity for a forbidden bite of tantalizing fruit.

And therein lies the problem today.  We desire to be gods, creating our own lists of do’s and don’ts, disregarding and ignoring the truths of the Bible.  If God’s “Thou shalt nots” cramp our style or our own adopted morals and values, we toss them aside, explaining the Bible’s out of touch with 21st century crowds.  Sadly, we forget that even though people might “evolve” on morals, God does not.

It’s interesting to note that the Andy Griffith show is set in Mayberry, North Carolina.  Neighborly, upstanding, and God-fearing would be a few of the adjectives to describe its population.  Today, Bruce Springsteen canceled a concert appearance in North Carolina because a law passed requiring men and women to use their own restrooms.  Can you imagine the outrage in Mayberry if a man trotted into a woman’s bathroom?  Andy and Barney would haul him off to jail and seek to find the individual help.  Finding that person help today is deemed insensitive and bigoted.

“Let people be who they want to be, ” they cry.

How about being the person God created him to be? Novel idea, huh?

Well, not a novel.  It’s a Bible idea.

I don’t believe the future of America hinges on this next Presidential election.  I believe it hinges upon the actions of Christian people.  Throughout the last few decades, we’ve failed to protest the leftist turn of our Country for fear of being labeled intolerant.  But it’s that silence which allows the voices of aberrant behavior to dominate the conversation and to hijack the culture.  No, we cannot remain silent.  We must teach our children right and wrong, black and white values without  cracks and crevices for the “But what ifs…”

But where do we begin?  There’s one step we must take before jumping into the cultural fray.  It’s found in II Chronicles 7:14,

“If My people, who are called by My name, will humble themselves and pray, and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, forgive their sins, and heal their land.”

I challenge you to personal revival, then to join the people of God in battling for the soul of America.  And if our Country chooses to vote for a “Third Obama” term and drive a stake through the heart of America, then keep your eyes fastened on the Eastern sky, for surely Jesus’ return is soon.

“Come quickly Lord Jesus.”

Boys Will Be….Girls??

I loved attending Sunday School as a child.  In fact, some of my earliest memories of Sunday School include the teacher hoisting a flannel board onto an easel, the back drop for characters that adhered to the fabric.  One morning, the teacher stuck Adam and Eve to the board, each wearing strategically placed fig leaves.   The Genesis account shares the story of God’s Creation, including the forming of the first couple tasked with being stewards of His beautiful and perfect Garden, Eden.  Genesis 1:26-27 reads,

Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.”  So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.

A few months ago, it was brought to my attention that Facebook users are offered 58 gender options.  I read through the list with my wife, both of us shaking our heads, marveling at the mass deception being waged against humanity.  Genesis plainly teaches that God created two sexes, male and female.  In fact, humanity was God’s crowning achievement, creating humanity and only humanity with the opportunity of enjoying a personal relationship with Him.  Obviously over the past several thousand years, the Devil has wormed his way into the minds of some, sewing seeds of confusion about gender.  No one who understands spiritual warfare and Satan’s tactics doubts the turmoil suffered by an individual who is gender confused, but in no terms should a man (gender confused or not) be allowed to utilize a public restroom reserved for women only.

I saw a news story a few weeks ago about a lady in Michigan that was stripped of her Planet Fitness membership because she chose to make a big deal about a transgender individual using the women’s locker room.  On the day in question, a man walked into the locker room while she was changing.  She reported the individual to the front desk.  The employee manning the desk explained Planet Fitness has a “no-judgment” policy which allows people to use changing rooms based on

“their sincere, self-reported gender identity.”

The woman phoned Planet Fitness’ corporate headquarters and received the same response.  She commented,

“If you have male parts you don’t need to be in the women’s locker room.  I don’t care what you are; I don’t care if you’re gay, lesbian, transgender or transvestite.  I am uncomfortable with you as a male in my locker room, in my restroom.”

And why shouldn’t she be uncomfortable?

And now a retail giant has jumped on the political correctness parade.  Target has just announced that it will start phasing out gender-based signage in some of their kids’ departments.  The bedding department will no longer feature boys’ and girls’ comforters and the toy aisles will no longer feature backdrops of pink and blue.  An Ohio mom praised Target for its decision, calling the “color coded” divisions in toys “regressive and harmful.”  With this mentality, soon, gender reveals will be considered harmful to the baby in the womb.  Maybe everyone can just celebrate “it” at a baby shower….

Recently, North Carolina passed the Public Facilities Privacy and Security Act, also known as HB2.  Under HB2, people in North Carolina are only permitted to use public restrooms that correspond with their biological sex, defined as

“the physical condition of being male or female, which is stated on a person’s birth certificate.”

Obviously Americans need to rent Kindergarten Cop and be reminded about the differences between male and female genitalia.  Women and especially young girls should not feel threatened and uncomfortable by a man’s presence in a bathroom or public shower facility.  Have we drifted so far as a society we fail to consider that males might experience temporary “gender identity” crises any time they want to ogle girls in the locker rooms? I hope women carry mace into these public facilities being invaded by men who identify as women for the sole purpose of leering at females in various stages of undress.  If I ever see a man follow my wife or daughters into the bathroom at the Mall, I too, will identify as a woman for that moment in time….Why can’t men be men and women be women?

You know, like it used to be?

We definitely need to pray for those who struggle with gender identity issues, but we also need to stand firm on our principles, requiring people to use the facilities that match their genitalia, not their feelings or their “I’d rather be’s.”  God created two sexes.  We should celebrate His creative genius and celebrate the sexes.
