Do You Really Care About Our Kids?

God has blessed my family with six children, three boys…three girls….a modern day Brady Boggs8Bunch of sorts.  When our family piles out of the Suburban or walks into the grocery store, our presence raises eyebrows.  I wish I had a nickel for every time a person asks, “You know how that happens, right?” My favorite response is, “My wife knows, but she won’t tell me.”  Truth be told, we love kids.  It’s that plain and simple.

We (our family) associate or tend to support a political Party that champions children, starting at conception.  We proudly claim to be the Party of Life.  And that’s the case for the GOP unless the preferred Candidate fails to receive the Party’s nod for nominee and then some moan and groan, threatening to support a third Party candidate or refusing to vote in November.  But my third Party candidate is pro-life, you say.  That’s great, but in our overwhelmingly entrenched two-party system, a third party candidate only serves to steal votes away from either the Democrat or Republican nominee.  In this case, Donald Trump stands to lose the most from individuals dead set against the GOP nominee.

Am I one hundred percent convinced Trump’s a true Conservative?  Absolutely not!  He concerns me…a great deal.  However, am I convinced Hillary Clinton plans to perpetuate Obama’s legacy by sticking America with a third term of Obama’s ideologies?  Absolutely!  She’s promised as much.  And this is one of the only things she’s said that can be trusted.

Time and time again I converse with Conservatives who won’t vote for Trump because their conscience won’t allow it.  Well, if that’s you, I pose the following questions:

Will your conscience allow Hillary Clinton to nominate four or more Supreme Court Justices?

Will your conscience vote for Hillary, a woman worshiped by the nation’s largest abortion provider?

Will your conscience vote for Hillary even after she claimed Margaret Sanger as a hero?

Will your conscience vote for a woman who lied about Benghazi, blaming the attack on a YouTube video?

Will your conscience vote for a woman who compromised national security by unilaterally deciding to utilize her own private server and email?

Will your conscience vote for a woman whose husband sexually harassed and assaulted scores of women?  (Hillary called the women’s charges, “Bimbo eruptions.)

Will your conscience vote for a woman who’s been called “extremely careless” by the FBI?

And let me ask again, will your conscience permit you to allow Hillary Clinton to nominate four or more Supreme Court Justices, who enjoy lifetime appointments?

A vote for a Third Party candidate or boycotting the ballot box in November is a vote for Hillary…a violation of the conscience many claim the desire to protect.

Trump’s not perfect…not even close.  And we really don’t know how America will fare under a Trump/Pence Administration.  Clinton’s track record speaks for itself; Hillary’s term in office might be America’s death knell.

So I ask, do you really care about our kids?

Baal on Broadway

A few weeks ago I read a headline reporting something like,

“Baal comes to New York City.”

Sometimes I have to take things I see on social media with a grain of salt.  At that time, I assumed someone retweeted an Onion story or cited an article out of the National Enquirer.  Sadly, I was wrong.  This morning several reputable news sources are reporting that replica arches to the entrance of the Temple of Baal will be erected in New York City and London.  What’s the purpose?  To show the world what the arches looked like prior to ISIS’ rampage through Syria.  I’m certain many find this harmless, simply a teaching moment for those who have never seen the ancient ruins.  But before we brush off the event, we need to dig a little deeper.  Who was/is this Baal character anyway?

Baal was the name of the supreme god worshiped in ancient Canaan and Phoenicia.  Sadly, the worship of Baal wasn’t limited to pagan Gentiles.  From time to time, the Children of Israel slipped into idol worship, prostrating themselves before the god of Baal.  The word Baal means “lord.”  Baal was worshiped as a fertility god who was supposedly able to coax the earth to produce crops and people to produce children.

Baal worship was rooted in sensuality and involved ritualistic prostitution in the temples.  On some occasions, Baal demanded human sacrifice, usually the firstborn of the one making the sacrifice.  Jeremiah 19:4-5 refers to this practice,

“For they have forsaken Me (God) and made this a place of foreign gods; they have burned incense in it to gods that neither they nor their ancestors nor the kings of Juda ever knew, and they have filled this place with the blood of the innocent.  They have built the high places of Baal to burn their children in the fire as offerings to Baal – something I did not command or mention, nor did it enter my mind.”

Before the Hebrews crossed the Jordan to enter the Promised Land, God warned the Israelite people to steer clear of Canaan’s gods.  Israel turned to idolatry anyway.  In the book of I Kings, we see the Lord God confronting the paganism through His prophet Elijah.  First, God showed that He, not Baal controlled nature by sending a drought lasting over three years (I Kings 17).  Then, Elijah called for a showdown between the God of Israel and Baal.  All day long, 450 prophets of Baal begged their god to send down fire from heaven.  Baal remained silent.  Upon Elijah’s heartfelt prayer, the God of Israel responded with fire immediately. (I Kings 18)

Interestingly enough, Jesus calls Satan “Beelzebub,” linking the devil to Baal-Zebub, a god of the Philistines.  But let me make it clear, the Baalim referenced in the Old Testament were nothing more than demons masquerading as gods.  In other words, any time the Children of Israel bowed to an idol of Baal, they participated in devil worship.

So, that’s what’s coming to New York City, a replica archway that welcomed people into the presence of a false deity…a gateway to worship the Father of Lies.  Ultimately, this is a prolife issue.

The act of abortion, mirrors in part, idol worship discussed in the Old Testament.  Cultures outside of Israel sacrificed to false gods, Baal and Molech.  On occasion this required child sacrifice.  Pagan cultures worshiped this god of Baal, sacrificing their children to him.  But since Baal didn’t truly exist, the god of this world received glory in these sacrificial rituals.  Here we are, a few thousand years later, cultured people conceal Baal, disguising him under the banner of an organization like Planned Parenthood.  Certainly all of the darkest recesses of hell shriek with delight every time a helpless innocent baby is ripped limb by limb from the womb.

Three years ago, I woke to the Twitter trend, “Hail Satan.”  I couldn’t imagine what transpired in the overnight hours.  Pro-life advocates had congregated at the Texas Capitol Building and sang Amazing Grace.  Rabidly pro-abortion advocates taunted the makeshift choir, drowning out the hymn by chanting “Hail Satan.”  Erecting an arch to the god of Baal takes this hideous action a bit further.  In Texas, those  people were merely chanting “hail Satan,” but now an altar will be raised in his name in the most powerful and identifiable city in the world.

One day the chant “hail Satan” will cease.  In fact, one day Jesus will shout the order,

“To hell, Satan.”

And forevermore he’ll dwell in the Lake of Fire.  What a glorious day.  But until then, we pray,

 “Come quickly Lord Jesus.”

Blaming God for America’s Woes

Whenever life fails to go as planned, we tend to blame God.  Sure, God controls the universe, holding it firmly in the palm of His Hand, but this does not mean we are exempt from experiencing painful consequences of poor choices.  From the very beginning, there’s been a problem with taking responsibility.  In the Garden of Eden, Adam threw God and Eve under the bus for his part in biting into the forbidden fruit.  In the Book of Jonah, we find the prophet blaming God for allowing him to soak in the digestive juices of a “great fish.”

Do you recall the story?  God called Jonah to go to Nineveh to warn them of pending Judgment.  Instead of being obedient, Jonah boarded a ship to Tarshish, a port city almost 900 miles in the opposite direction.  He balked at sharing a message with people he believed deserving of God’s wrath.  While on this ship, God orchestrated a violent storm at sea.  The sailors discovered Jonah was the cause of this tempest, and Jonah explained the only way to save the ship was to throw him overboard.  And that’s what they did. But listen to what Jonah says in chapter 2:3,

“For You cast me into the deep…”

Jonah obviously forgets his role in the story.  Jonah ran from God.  God chose to get his attention.  Jonah asked to be thrown into the sea.  Blaming God for becoming fish food serves to exempt Jonah from responsibility.

In several conversations of late, many people ask why Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton stand atop the race for the White House.  Those opposing Trump cite his conceit, vulgarity, and boyish bully-ness.  On the other side of the aisle, Clinton turns the stomach of many because of her propensity to lie and her role in an Ambassador’s death in Benghazi….not to mention she’s under FBI investigation concerning her handling (or mishandling) of classified and top secret emails.  Why do voters choose people like that? I’m asked.

It’s simple. We asked for it.

Remember how the Children of Israel suffered from the “Keeping up with the Joneses” syndrome?  Other nations appointed kings, and Israel determined to have one as well.  The prophet Samuel warned them of the consequences of having King, but they disregarded the prophet’s vetting of a future leader.  Samuel was offended and went to the Lord, who said,

“They have not rejected you.  They have rejected me from being their king” (I Samuel 8:7)

Once again Samuel implored the people to reconsider; instead they demanded a king.  So finally God said,

“Give them a king” (I Kings 8:22)

God allowed the Children of Israel to have a king, not because their choice was in His perfect will, but because of His practice of allowing people to exercise free will.

Fast forward to 2016.

The current frontrunners in both parties aren’t the problem; they reflect the result of a society stomping on the accelerator, running the opposite direction of God.  Trump claims repentance isn’t necessary in his life, and Hillary had the audacity to say she’s never lied to the American people.  But why does this behavior shock us?  In 2012, the Democratic Party booed God at their national convention, and sadly, the Republican Party may not be that far behind.  For whatever reason, we’ve lost sight of the importance of character, values, and morality, pillars modeled by our Founders as they crafted the Constitution and cited the Hand of Providence as their guide.  Our moral compass has broken and we’re shaking the magic eight ball to get directions.  We’ve lost sight of what’s true and right and pure and noble…. As a Country, we’re getting what we asked for.  Why don’t we care otherwise?

Maybe it’s because we’re too busy Keeping up with the Kardashians.

Outlawing Biblical Values? It’s Coming!

The erosion of the rights of Believers continues at a dizzying pace. A landmark decision in Massachusetts now sets the stage for a continued attack upon those espousing Conservative Christian values. A Catholic preparatory school for girls, whose mission is

“the education of young women rooted in gospel values and the teachings of the Catholic Church,”

is learning this lesson the hard way.

In 2013, the Fontbonne Academy sought to hire a food services director and offered the job to applicant Matthew Barrett. During the interview process, Mr. Barrett was told that all school employees were expected to model Catholic teachings and values. Mr. Barrett responded his willingness and ability to abide by the school’s standards. The school extended the offer of employment and he accepted.

A few days later, that offer of employment was rescinded. On his new employee form, Mr. Barrett listed his husband as an emergency contact. The school responded swiftly, informing him that they could hire someone in a same-sex marriage because that type of relationship isn’t consistent with the teachings of the Catholic Church. This marriage failed to meet the criteria of living up to and upholding the teachings and values of Catholic and Bible doctrine.

Matthew Barrett filed a lawsuit against the Academy, challenging the school’s policy. In December of 2015, a judge ruled in favor of Mr. Barrett, stating the school had acted contrary to Massachusetts law by discriminating against Matthew Barrett based on his sexual orientation. The judge argued that since the school accepts students of all faiths and because a food service director does not meet the criteria of a “minister of the Gospel,” the school does not qualify for a religious exemption.

The judge failed to take into consideration that the Catholic Church has always opposed same sex marriage and that the Academy’s hiring agreement clearly stated all employees were expected to support and model Catholic teachings. This ruling punished a religious school for hiring someone living a lifestyle expressly considered as sinful both in Catholic teachings and in the Word of God. Sadly, the judge ignored the specific exception under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. According to the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission:

“Religious Organization Exception: Under Title VII, religious organizations are permitted to give employment preference to members of their own religion. The exception applies only to those institutions whose “purpose and character are primarily religious.” Factors to consider that would indicate whether an entity is religious include: whether its articles of incorporation state a religious purpose; whether its day-to-day operations are religious (e.g., are the services the entity performs, the product it produces, or the educational curriculum it provides directed toward propagation of the religion?); whether it is not-for-profit; and whether it affiliated with, or supported by, a church or other religious organization.
This exception is not limited to religious activities of the organization. However, it only allows religious organizations to prefer to employ individuals who share their religion.” (Emphasis mine.)

Webster’s defines religion as,

“a personal set or institutionalized system of religious attitudes, beliefs, and practices.”

In ruling against the Academy, the judge ignored the religious institution’s right to hire individuals of like faith and practice. Of course, people warned of this government overreach and outcome prior to the Supreme Court legalizing gay marriage in 2015. Now, those staunchly opposed to redefining the marital relationship instituted by God, find themselves in the cross hairs of a culture adamantly opposed to all things Christian.
The fate of Christianity and Conservatism hinges not on the outcome of the 2016 election cycle. (Although, we definitely need to elect an individual that embraces Christian values and American Exceptionalism.) No, the future of this great nation depends upon Christians fervently practicing the following:

1. Humbly repenting of sin (II Chronicles 7:14)
2. Seeking God (II Chronicles 7:14)
3. Praying for our Country and for God’s Spirit to move mightily (II Chronicles 7:14, I Thess. 5:17)
4. Being Salt and Light (Matthew 5:13-16)

If we faithfully adhere to God and His Word, He pledges to

“hear from Heaven, forgive our sins and heal our land.”

If we as a Country ignore Him, boo Him, or flatly deny His existence, then future generations might read of America as only an asterisk in the history books of the world. Our children and children’s children deserve a better outcome. I’m praying for a better outcome.

Will you?

The Wizard is Missing From Liberalism

babyinwomb

I love “The Wizard of Oz.”

For many years I watched the family classic annually, awed by a Kansas Twister and farm girl Dorothy and her adventures traveling the Yellow Brick Road.  Along the way, strangers become companions, and Dorothy, Scarecrow, Tin Man, and the Cowardly Lion link arms, setting their sights on the Emerald City and its most famous citizen, the Wizard himself.  All in Oz believe the Wizard all powerful and that he can grant wishes unmet by any other means.  Dorothy desires a first class ticket to Kansas.  The Scarecrow hopes to snag a brain.  The Cowardly Lion wants courage befitting the King of the Jungle, and the Tin Man lacks a heart.  It seems that malady affects many more than whimsical rusting robots.

Yesterday, a House Committee commenced interrogating supporters of the abortion industry in an attempt to determine if Planned Parenthood should be defunded.  The Congressional Committee heard from Yale Professor Priscilla Smith.  A rabid supporter of abortion, Miss Smith was the lawyer who argued for keeping partial birth abortion legal at the Supreme Court.  Thankfully, the High Court voted to ban the gruesome abortion technique.

The Congressional Committee Chair reminded the Professor of the ruling, reading the Supreme Court’s decision on partial birth abortion.  He then directed the following question to Ms. Smith,

“Do you believe this (partial birth abortion) is a humane way to die?”

Initially, Miss Smith chased the rabbit of “viability” but eventually admitted she considered a “D & E” a human means of aborting a baby.  If uncertain about the procedure, the following steps are taken to kill the infant in the womb:

a.  The body parts are grasped at random with a long toothed clamp.

b.  The body parts are pulled from the fetal body out the vaginal canal.

c.  The remaining body parts are grasped and pulled out.

d.  The head is grasped and crushed in order to remove it from the vaginal canal.

e.  The placenta and remaining contents are suctioned from the uterus.

Miss Priscilla Smith, director of Yale Law School’s Program for the Study of Reproductive Justice, defends a woman’s right to abortion and believes partial birth abortion falls under the definition of “a humane way to die.”

Maybe I’m out of touch, but I personally believe “humane” and “dismemberment” shouldn’t exist in the same sentence.  When I hear the word “dismemberment” I picture serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer.  It seems the only difference between Dahmer’s heinous crimes and Planned Parenthood is that Dahmer dined on his victims….Maybe that’s the red line differentiating between “humane” and “inhumane.”  Maybe Liberals balk when cannibalism is involved.

Sadly, we find America in a position where the most innocent of life discovers the womb to be one of the most dangerous locales in the United States.  It’s time for the Left to follow the same path as the Tin Man.  Without a heart, the Tin Man felt deprived of the most human of emotions.  He determined the heart the seat of compassion and sympathy, qualities missing in a man crafted from tin.  Unfortunately, compassion and sympathy appear strangely absent from flesh and blood humans advocating for the right to abort an innocent life.  Just the thought of fighting for the right to dismember a child and market his parts and tissue boggles the mind.

If Liberals truly believe ripping a baby limb from limb from the womb is humane, then Dorothy was right.

“We’re not in Kansas anymore.”

And it’s not a Wizard they need.  It’s God.

God Spare America

Bible

On September 11, 2001, I sat proctoring a test in a local junior high school, when a fellow teacher stepped into the room.  There to relieve me, he said, “Get to a television.”  I hurried down the hallway and stepped into the teacher’s lounge.  An aide stood in front of the television, transfixed.  I peeked over her shoulder in time to see the second plane plow into the World Trade Center.  For the next several minutes, I watched as throngs of people sprinted from the towers.  And then both buildings crumpled, leaving a smoldering pile of rubble.

For the rest of the day, the world’s eyes were glued to the television, attempting to process the information coming in.  By the end of the day, four hijacked planes delivered death and destruction, killing almost 3000 innocent people.  In one coordinated act of cowardice, radical jihadists stole America’s peace of mind and sense of invincibility.  How would America respond?

Later that day, something happened on Capitol Hill no one expected.  After Congressman Hastert addressed the nation, pledging to hold accountable those responsible for terrorism on our shores, the Congress formed an impromptu choir, gathering in a show of solidarity singing “God Bless America.”

Yes….”God Bless America.”

For the next few weeks, churches experienced a major uptick in attendance.  People scrambled to seek answers to combat fears of future attacks.  It’s true…there are no atheists in foxholes.  Sadly, the singing of “God Bless America” and the new interest in clinging to God faded as the United States settled back into the old and familiar routine of life pre-terrorist attack.  When the Congress linked arms and sang a song beseeching the Creator to bless our Country, for a fleeting a moment I wondered,

“Could this be the beginning of a much needed Spiritual Awakening?”

A few short years later, the Democratic National Convention delegates booed when asked to insert the mention of God and Israel into the Democratic Platform.

Yes.  They.  Booed.  God.

Obviously, the memory of terrorists killing a few thousand Americans was dimmed by a new push to eradicate God entirely from the public arena.

Fast forward to 2015.  It appears those opposed to anything holy and righteous have stepped on the accelerator, speeding up America’s trip to “hell in a hand basket.”  In the last few months, the Supreme Court has overstepped its bounds in legalizing gay marriage, Christians face the targeted efforts of homosexuals demanding everyone honor their unions, and a investigative journalist organization has video evidence that Planned Parenthood harvests organs of aborted babies, including those born alive.  A couple of decades ago, America surpassed all other world powers leading as Reagan’s “shining city on a hill.”  Today, it’s a sprint to the bottom to surpass the wickedness of Sodom and Gomorrah.

And now, Rowan County Clerk Kim Davis sits in jail for refusing to issue marriage licenses to same sex couples.  Her professed faith in Christ and belief in the teachings of the Bible dictates her decision.  Obviously, an activist judge wrongly believes the Supreme Court can create laws and finds an opportunity to teach all “bitter clingers” in America a lesson.  It’s becoming apparent the gay agenda isn’t about equality but about forcing everyone to embrace the “alternative” lifestyle.

Unless another horrific calamity strikes America, I don’t anticipate Congress singing “God Bless America” any time soon.  In fact, I’m not even sure we have that right.  We should encourage the President to utilize his “pen and phone” to change the lyrics to “God Spare America.”  That seems more apropos.

It’s Not in the Bible

babyinwomb

I find it appalling that people cite the Bible to condone their sin.  Just this past week, a story resurfaced on my Twitter feed dating from 2014.  An abortion doctor’s wife claimed the Bible supported abortion.  I’m not sure which Bible she’s using, but it’s definitely not the Word of God.

Back in 2014, abortion doctor Martin Haskell and his wife left a courtroom after being told their abortion facility would be closing if it failed to meet health and safety standards.  Two pro-life advocates approached them on the sidewalk, encouraging the couple to close the abortion clinic and turn to Jesus Christ.  Ms. Haskell responded,

“No, it’s time for you to repent and turn to Jesus.”

One responded, “How is it okay to kill children?”

“Read the Bible and you’ll see,”

Of course she failed to point to specific passages of Scripture to back up her claim, as there are none.  However, if her bible of choice is the Satanists Bible, maybe she finds there a defense to back up her ideology.

On August 20, Lifenews posted a story about a former Satanist’s ties to the abortion industry.  Zachary King told Lifenews that abortion serves as a most satisfactory way of giving an offering to the Prince of Darkness.  King explained it this way:

“In Satanism, killing something or the death of something is the most effective way of getting your spell accomplished.  As far as trying to get satan’s approval, to give you something that you want, killing something is the best way to go.  Killing something is the ultimate offering to satan, and if you can kill an unborn, that is his ultimate goal.”

Though the Satanic Temple’s website downplays their blood thirst for abortion, King insists killing innocent babies is one of the best ways to garner Lucifer’s favor.

This revelation really makes me wonder if many of the advocates for “prochoice” are actually closeted Satanists.  And even if they’re not, they are unwittingly contributing a sacred offering to the Devil himself.  This prochoice ideology serves as an altar of sacrifice to the one who comes to “steal, kill, and destroy.”

Nothing in the Bible substantiates claims that abortion is an acceptable act, stating so borders on blasphemy.  Maybe with the recent release of the Planned Parenthood videos exposing their atrocious practices, our Country might drop to its knees and repent of this decades long holocaust.  If not, then Ms. Haskell’s partially right.  But instead of honoring the God of the Bible, she and her husband will continue to satiate the ravenous desires of the “god of this world.”

Oh, and in this case, it is Scriptural.  His name is Moloch.

Southern Baptists and the Grand Old Party

Christianity Today published an article exploring the idea that Southern Baptists and Republicans share a much too close relationship.  In fact, the title “For Southern Baptists and GOP, Breaking Up is Hard to Do,” sets the stage for various Southern Baptist leaders to express concern over the Protestant denomination’s chummy ties to the Grand Old Party.

In a comment made in 2008, then Southern Baptist Convention President Frank Page said,

“I have cautioned Baptists about being lockstep with any Party.”

More recently, leaders of Baptist21, an organization of younger Southern Baptist pastors with reformed leanings wrote,

“There continue to be perceptions in our culture that the SBC is in bed with the Republican Party,”

Is that such a bad thing?  At least the Republican Party shows a bit of respect for God.

Several years ago, a friend and I discussed the Democrat Party.  My buddy expressed frustration that many in his family continued to vote for Democrats.  In attempting to sway his relatives he kindly explained,

“This Democrat party isn’t your Grandmother’s Democrat Party.”

A few decades ago, little difference existed between the parties in regards to moral issues.  Even if both sides of the aisle failed to see eye to eye on issues of domestic and foreign policy, Republicans and Democrats honored God and Country.

Today, an ever widening rift exists between the two.

In 2012, people attending the Democratic National Convention booed to keep the mere mention of God and Israel out of the party’s platform.  After the Supreme Court ruling on gay marriage, the President “painted” the colors of the rainbow on the White House with special lighting.  This public display slapped both God and traditional marriage adherents in the face.  Most recently, a pro-life organization posted videos of Planned Parenthood executives haggling over the prices of “fetal tissue” harvested from aborted babies.  This atrocity should infuriate both parties.  Instead, both Nancy Pelosi and Hillary Clinton, claim these video makers are launching a “concerted attack” on those championing women’s rights.

Do I claim Republicans always tow the straight and narrow?  Absolutely not!  However, at least most Republicans embrace life and traditional marriage, and for Christians these two moral issues should be attractive.  In fact, if Christians support a candidate who supports abortion on demand and gay marriage, aren’t they being complicit in those abominations as well?

I’m not suggesting Pastors slap “Support Ted Cruz” bumper stickers on every members’ car.  I understand the necessity of Pastors refraining from endorsing candidates from the pulpit.  But the issues…the issues are another story.

During the last election cycle, a church member called asking me if I’d decided upon a Presidential Candidate.  I explained I couldn’t recommend a specific candidate, but I shared that I based my decisions on the social issues.  The economy means little if we abhor and ignore the moral standards of God.

Maybe Southern Baptists shouldn’t be in bed with the Republican Party, but maybe they should at least share the same house.  After all, morals matter.

Democrats and Christians….Oxymorons?

History often repeats itself.

Maybe not with exact precision, but occasionally snippets of past historical events re-emerge, triggering memories of days gone by.  Fads come…go…and come again.  For instance, fashion to a certain extent, functions in this cyclical manner.   Even Biblical history repeats itself.   Last year, an occurrence at the Democratic National Convention shared something in common with an account in the lives of Jesus and the Apostle Peter.  No…no one walked on water or turned water into wine.  But a significant percentage of the party delegates played the role of Peter in one of his most notorious moments, the occasion of his thrice denial of Christ.

After the arrest of Jesus, Peter milled around the courtyard awaiting the fate of Christ.  Noting Peter’s presence, the crowd asked Peter if he was one of Jesus’ followers.  Peter refuted having any relationship with Jesus, voicing these denials three times.   When the rooster crowed, Peter remembered Jesus’ words,

“”Truly I tell you, this very night, before the rooster crows, you will disown me three times.”  Matthew 26:34

So, how does the aforementioned Biblical account apply to the Democratic National Convention?  In the Fall of last year, abandoning language from previous gatherings, the DNC presented a platform without the mention of “God” and without the designation of “Jerusalem” as the Capitol of Israel.  These head scratching omissions ignited a firestorm.  Social media disseminated the news that the Democrats could now be categorized as “Godless.”  Within a few hours, a delegate presented a resolution to amend the platform, re-inserting both “God” and “Jerusalem” in the document.  Aiming to right the “oversight,” DNC Chairman Antonio Villaraigosa announced the party required a 2/3 vote to amend the party platform.  Calling for a voice vote of “ayes” and “nays,” the Party Chair squirmed as the volume of affirmative and negative votes sounded identical.  After three separate votes, he unilaterally passed the amendment as those opposed booed the correction.

Three times he called for a vote and three times at least half of the delegates chorused contempt for God and Jerusalem.  There’s no doubt Party leaders, possibly including the President, ordered Mr. Villaraigosa,

“No matter the vote, pass the amendment.”

At the DNC, a political party chair resorted to cheating to acknowledge God’s Providence, a truly sad commentary on the spiritual state of America.

A few months ago, the Missouri Baptist newspaper, “The Pathway” shared the following results from a Gallup poll:

“Most Democrats, 52 percent, say they seldom or never go to church.  Twenty percent said they go to church nearly weekly or monthly.  Thirty-eight percent of Republicans said they seldom or never go to church, while 21 percent said they go to church nearly weekly or monthly.  When asked what their religious denomination was, 19 percent of Democrats said they had none, while 9 percent of Republicans said they belonged to no denomination.

Recently a friend of a friend said,

“Democrats have no hope of going to Heaven.”

I do not endorse his remarks.

“Man sees the outward appearance, God sees the heart.”

However, the poll answers some questions about the liberals’ stance on social issues, particularly abortion and homosexuality.  If a majority of democrats steer clear of church, then the odds of adopting a biblical worldview seem slim.  Without a biblical worldview it becomes easy for “man to do what seems right in his own eyes….”

No wonder they booed God.
