The importance of America returning to Christian principles and Traditional Family Values

Truth Telling is a Revolutionary Act

My parents taught me to tell the truth.  Lying resulted in painful consequences.  So, I learned early in life to avoid falsehoods and be a person of my word.  Just a few decades ago, telling the truth earned one the title of “trustworthy” or a “person of integrity.”  Just a few decades ago, people appreciated the truth and those who told it.  Nowadays, distinguishing the truth from lies in the world of public service can be a burdensome chore, especially when news outlets are no longer reporters but water carriers for the Administration occupying the White House.  How do we peasants discover the truth?

I believe the answer is a spiritual one.

Sure, a handful in media do their best to uncover fact from fiction, but sometimes the truth’s so far buried, removing layer after layer of falsehood can exhaust and frustrate the most determined of reporters.  Over the last several years it’s been a practice of most of the mainstream media to swallow the lines and rehearsed responses delivered from the Obama Administration, and only the bravest of souls dare challenge or pose probing queries.  White House Director Anita Dunn told an overseas crowd in 2009 concerning Obama’s Presidential Campaign,

“Very rarely did we communicate through the press anything that we didn’t absolutely control.”

So much for living up to the promise of being the most “transparent Administration in history.”

So what about the spiritual solution?

Though seldom talked about in the Nation’s Beltway, a spiritual battle is raging for the heart of this Country. In Ephesians 6, the Apostle Paul reminds,

“For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.”

In our efforts to pinpoint our government’s problems, we identify those we consider to be the top perpetrators. The names of Obama, Jarrett, Holder, Pelosi, Reid, and Boehner (Yes, even a Republican) top the list of most aggregious perpetrators of America’s ills.  But in reality, these people aren’t the faces of the real problem.  Remember,

“We wrestle not against flesh and blood…”

In the Book of Proverbs, Solomon shares seven things God considers abominations. “Lying lips” makes the list. The Bible teaches Satan is the father of lies.  At no time are people more like the devil than when fabricating stories and weaving tales of deception. Unfortunately, people seldom admit to lying, but instead use terms like “misremembered” or “misspoke” to describe their “regrettable” actions.  Actually, the only “regret” is getting caught.  And, there’s the solution. Illuminating the darkness.

John 1:5 says,

“The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overvome it.”

As Christians, we must start the battle for our Country on our knees.  For too long we’ve moaned and groaned about our Country’s course but done little else.  If we truly want to turn the juggernaut of overreaching government around, we must follow the recipe as outlined in II Chronicles 7:14:

“If My people, who are called by My Name, will humble themselves and pray, and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from Heaven, will forgive their sins, and heal their land.”

First, Christians need to resolve to get right with God.  Asking God to illuminate the areas in our life that offend His holiness.  When Christians enmasse commit their hearts to God, then healing to the land becomes a reality.

“The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.”

Those conniving and plotting in the darkness will have their evil deeds fully exposed. Until revival breaks out, we need to ask God to thwart the efforts of those weakening and undermining the foundations of this great Country. We need to ask God to bring to light the truth, and raise leaders in all walks of life to proclaim it. This won’t be popular. George Orwell once said,

“In a time of deceit telling the truth is a revolutionary act.”

The answer to America’s shortcomings is spiritual.  America’s problems won’t be solved at the voting booth but at the altar.

Hillary Clinton and The Princess Bride

Hillary Clinton finds herself making headlines and not the kind desired when being the presumptive presidential nominee for the Democrat party.  For the past few days, an outcry has arisen over the fact she utilized a personal email and a “home brew” server to conduct government business while she served as Secretary of State.  The Clinton’s aren’t strangers to controversy, and this current indiscretion committed by Mrs. Clinton might be nothing more than fleeting news, but her actions do corroborate teachings found in the Word of God.

Numbers 32:23b teaches, “……and be sure your sin will find you out.”

Some might balk at the idea of calling Hillary’s secret missives sin, but the Bible addresses this as well.  Romans 13:1-7 states,

Everyone must submit himself to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God. Consequently, he who rebels against the authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and those who do so will bring judgment on themselves.  For rulers hold no terror for those who do right, but for those who do wrong. Do you want to be free from fear of the one in authority? Then do what is right and he will commend you.  For he is God’s servant to do you good. But if you do wrong, be afraid, for he does not bear the sword for nothing. He is God’s servant, an agent of wrath to bring punishment on the wrongdoer. Therefore, it is necessary to submit to the authorities, not only because of possible punishment but also because of conscience. This is also why you pay taxes, for the authorities are God’s servants, who give their full time to governing. Give everyone what you owe him: If you owe taxes, pay taxes; if revenue, then revenue; if respect, then respect; if honor, then honor.”
This passage makes it abundantly clear that we are to obey the government God places over us. God created government to establish order, punish evil, and promote justice.  According to information posted on, “White House spokesman Josh Earnest said that the Obama administration had given “very specific guidance” telling all agencies that staffers should use their official email accounts when conducting official business, and that any business conducted through personal email accounts be “preserved consistent with the Federal Records Act.”

Though considered not technically illegal, she deliberately and with forethought chose to disobey the protocol established by the Obama Administration.  The Word of God specifically teaches that the only time disobedience to governing authorities is okayed, is when the law of man conflicts with the law of God.  Acts 5:27-29 shares,

“Having brought the apostles, they made them appear before the Sanhedrin to be questioned by the high priest. ‘We gave you strict orders not to teach in this Name,’ he said. ‘Yet you have filled Jerusalem with your teaching and are determined to make us guilty of this man’s blood.’ Peter and the other apostles replied: ‘We must obey God rather than men!’” explains,

“It is clear that as long as the law of the land does not contradict the law of God, we are bound to obey the law of the land. As soon as the law of the land contradicts God’s command, we are to disobey the law of the land and obey God’s law.”

Some scoff at applying biblical teaching to this “bump” in Hillary’s road to the presidential nomination.  However, if she conceals important information as the Secretary of State, how much more will she cover up as Commander in Chief.  She boasted in 2008,

“I think I’m probably the most transparent person in public life.”

Former White House Press Secretary echoed these sentiments about the Obama White House when he said,

“There has never been a more transparent Administration.”

Transparency and hiding official government emails seems to be an oxymoron.  Every time I hear an Obama Administration dub itself as “transparent,” I think of Inigo Montoya in the Princess Bride saying,

“You keep using that word.  I do not think it means what you think it means.”

The American people know what “transparency” means.

Does Hillary Clinton?
